Taking “equipment procurement” as the key word, this research used CiteSpace knowledge mapping analysis and visualization tools to analyze data obtained from 642 academic papers and literature documents which were retrieved from the full-text database of the CNKI Chinese journal covering the period January, 2001, to June 30, 2020. The data visualization analysis of equipment procurement was carried out by considering the time distribution, journal source, and author organization, and as well as the word frequency statistics of high-frequency keywords in this field which were examined using keyword frequency co-occurrence analysis. Using CiteSpace software, this paper presents an analysis of literature related to equipment procurement and discusses the development trend of equipment procurement research in detail. A summary is presented to outline the status quo and shortcomings of equipment procurement research: the internal scientific research force of the army represents the core component of the equipment procurement field, but there is a lack of communication research; the scope of research in the equipment procurement field is diverse, but the basic theory, research on equipment procurement research is diversified. Therefore, the policy environment of promoting equipment procurement research needs to be further strengthened. On this basis, this paper proposes some suggestions to optimize research and development in the field of equipment procurement at the later stage, so as to improve research in the field of equipment procurement.
